Imogen Heap



Imogen Heap is a beautiful young singer from UK having many awards and great songs under her name. She is basically a singer, song writer and composer. Most of her songs are innovations and they have hidden messages inside them. She writes those songs from personal experiences of life and the messages in them are usually targeted at her friends, parents and boy friend.
Professional Soundness
Imogen has worked with Frou Frou, Acacia and performed solo as well and she has three successful solo albums under her name which include iMegaphone, Speak for Yourself and Ellipse. She has great grip on many musical instruments which include guitar, piano, clarinet and drums. She has been doing all that since her early ages which has made her professionally sound in controlling these devices by now. It allows her to use different kind of electronic sounds in her music. Imogen Heap trained herself using the Atari computers rather then getting training from musical teachers at early ages. She joined Acacia in 1996 which was a pop band which further refined her skills.
Early Life
Heap’s father was a rock retailer and mother was an art therapist. They got separated when Heap was 12. So as her singing is based on personal experiences of life, she started writing songs at the age of 13 years. Similarly she worked things out on her Atari computer and mastered herself in music engineering and music production at the early ages. At the same time she learned instruments like guitar, piano, drums, array mbira and Hang. Most of the songs in Heap’s first album iMegaphone were self produced tracks with having use of these instruments in the production of electronic sounds in those songs.
Affiliations with great names
One of the main reasons of Heap’s success is her affiliations with great persons and bands during different times in her career. Her first big affiliation was with Acacia in 1996 which was an experimental Pop music band. She got further affiliations with Guy Sigsworth and Alexander Nilere from the same band. Heap was a guest vocalist for Acacia and she had great contributions in Acacia as she had singles and album tracks with Acacia. Imogen Heap also performed 4 songs in a concert at Hyde Park, London in 1996 from the same references. Guy Sigsworth also contributed in Heap’s first solo album iMegaphone in 1998. Some other names who contributed with Heap in her album were producers David Kahne and Dave Stewart. Sigsworth came up with the concept of Frou Frou in 2002 and Heap again joined him in that.
World Wide Recognition
Imogen Heap was nominated for Grammy awards in 2006. Similarly her recent solo album Ellipse in 2009 had great success all around the world and it brought two Grammy awards for Heap as best engineered album and non-classical. This album was a major success even in the North American Music Charts. Imogen Heap has given many remarkable appearances in concerts, music shows and at other venues at different places around the world and she has amused the music fans wherever she appeared with her beautiful mixing style of music and by her beautiful songs.
